  • Bought a new unicycle today from a lass at me circus group. 29 inch wheel for some proper off-road action!
The guys at the group have often told me of their adventures unicycling around the hills and I gots to be joining them at some point soon. Now I have the tools to do so :)
Given the manliness of the beast I think I shall name it Thor!

  • Took Capac and Judas to York for a bit of northern riding over the weekend while I did some family visitin.
Capac rode like a dream and my brother and sister-in-law grasped the basics with fine style. Unfortunately Judas' dodgy wheel had been knackered at the unicycle convention but I hadn't noticed and it now needs some major rebuilding and a new batch of bearings.

  • Brought Judas to a convention of the Union of UK Unicyclists in Kidderminster. Pretty well received, especially by the kids :)

  • Get in!
The daddy of all unitrikes has arrived today, shipped in direct from Massecheusetts. WOW it's bling. Custom job done on an extremely rare Florida manufactured unitrike. Hand brake, extra big wheels, huge wheelbase and lovely handling. Got a few further custom ideas such as softening the truck tensioners, making the brake a free handheld version (as the under-seat mounting currently makes it look like I'm scratching my manhood when I'm operating it) and lengthening the seat post. This is the first one that I can actually see myself riding to work on :):):)

  • Took Judas out for it's first proper ride, and my first unitriking since the accident.
I have to say it rode extremely well - only a slight imbalance in steering stiffness to contend with for most of the ride. I even took it over a few jumps in the local skate park.
However on my way back I noticed that the glue from the glue gun that I had used to repair the inner rim of one of the wheels was slipping out, loosening the wheel and gumming up the bearings to boot. I assume that the friction heat had melted it enough to squidge out - I need a new plan...
Also took Lazarus for a quick ride on it's new mega-wheels. Again, I was very impressed. I had expected it to ride very well in a straight line because I could see that the front/rear balance was just about perfect but I had expected the turning to be very poor. As it was I had a good pootle around the street without too much trouble, in fact the only real issue was the extra vibration caused by having plastic wheels rather than rubber.

  • Arse.
OK so after a week and a half I finally got round to doing the work on the new unitrike to get it up on the road. This included some fairly intricate rebuilding work with a glue gun! I also got the new wheels fitted to Lazarus and it looks bling.
So I was all about taking the new one out for its inaugural ride, checking out the comfort and manovrability and hopefully finding a fitting name. In my eagerness I forgot to put on my pads. Can you see where this is going? I washed out royally at the bottom of a hill (that I had just traversed expertly I might add) and bashed sizeable holes in my left knee and both hands. As I was hobbling back to treat my wounds, suddenly the name of the new machine became clear to me - Judas!

  • Unitrike number 4 has arrived!
Black, sleek and seemingly in need of little more than a good clean and the usual tune-up. But what shall I call it?
Went out to the bike shop to buy a new inner tube for it and also found a pair of trolley wheels that may well be just right for Lazarus (if a little cheap and tacky) and a variety of rubber door-stops and table feet that could be turned into truck tensioners quite nicely.

  • Unitrike HQ has moved premises. In the new place I have a whole workshop/showroom for the fleet. It all good.
